Christmas Services

Due to the current guidance on social distancing there are limited numbers of spaces available at some of our services.

The booking is now closed and all those who applied via the online form should have received confirmation of their places. If you haven't received confirmation please let Rachel ( or Jenny (07974 733985).

If you were unable to book before the deadline and would still like to come, again please contact Rachel or Jenny and we'll see if there are still any spaces, but please don't just turn up as it's important we don't exceed numbers.

Services for which booking is required

Christmas Service: ‘Tidings of Comfort and Joy’

A half hour service, lit by candles and the Christmas tree, with carols sung by the Choir, reflective readings telling the story of Christmas, and prayers at the crib. A collection will be taken to support the work of a local charity, The Needs Project. (Contactless card donations possible)

This service will be repeated twice in Great Gransden on Sun 20th, and twice in Abbotsley on Christmas Eve, at 4pm and at 5.15pm.

There are 50 places available at Great Gransden and 35 at Abbotsley for each service.

Midnight Mass

The beautiful and traditional service taking us into the joy of Christmas morning, with music from the choir, Holy Communion, all by the light of the Christmas tree and crib.

There are 50 places available at Great Gransden.

Christmas Day Communions

An informal celebration for all ages, with the invitation to receive communion or a blessing. A collection will be taken to support St Neots Food Bank. (Contactless card donations possible)

9am – Waresley Church (35 places available)

10.30am – Little Gransden Church (30 places available)

Online services

Crib Service

Led by the children of Barnabas Oley Primary School, the grand finale in our Community Advent Window Calendar Countdown! A creative, interactive and joyful investigation into the Christmas story. The collection for this service will be given to MIND.

Carol Service

An opportunity to gather round the fire at home on this Christmas Eve night and sing your favourite carols as loudly and tunefully (or not!) as you like! There will be a short reflection too on this most special of nights...

Christmas Day

A chance to sing some carols and welcome the Christ child into the manger in your home. Even if you can’t be in a church building this year, there is room to join together in the angels’ song.

Important information

  • The churches may be COLD! Please dress up warmly!

  • Sidesmen will be on hand to welcome you and to offer help and guidance.

  • Enter via the main door of the buildings.

  • Please remain socially distanced at all times, especially if there is a queue as you enter or leave.

  • Please use the hand sanitiser as you enter and exit the building.

  • Face masks need to be worn at all times.

  • Please take any service sheets home with you.
