The Gransdens Church Choir

Our Choir

There has been a church choir here in the Gransdens for over 100 years. We are a mixed choir of children and adults and currently 18 in number.

We welcome children aged 8+ and any adults to join us. When Covid guidance allows, choir practice is held every Wednesday from 6.30-7.15pm at Great Gransden Church.

We are an affiliated choir of the Royal School of Church Music and use the ’Voice for Life’ training scheme. Members are helped and encouraged to participate in the RSCM Chorister Awards in the Diocese.

We sing a wide range of music from traditional 4 part choral settings to modern worship songs. We still use some of the music acquired in the early 1900’s when it is appropriate and recently we have revived some of William Tansur’s psalms found in a book dating from 1754.

New Choristers

At our All Age Communion service at Great Gransden in October 2019 two new choristers Abbie and her mum Rachel were admitted as full members of our Choir. It was a double celebration as our Choir Director Sheila was presented with gifts to celebrate 60 years as a Chorister at this church. Abbie, Sheila and Rachel are pictured here.

Join Us

We are currently looking to recruit new members to replace some of our adults and children who have moved on or grown up and joined our adult section.

Interested? In normal times we'd say come along to any Choir Practice on Wednesdays at 6.30pm in Great Gransden Church to find out what is involved, but for the moment please email us.
